Since December 2011, the City of Prattville, the Autauga County Heritage Association and the Alabama Historical Commission have worked with the Continental Eagle Corporation to preserve the historic Pratt Gin Company buildings. Historically significant for their architecture and their role in Alabama's industrial history, the buildings uniquely define Prattville's downtown.

On March 19, 2012, the City of Prattville Planning Department received a rezoning request for the 42-acre parcel at 201 Gin Shop Hill Road. The request to rezone the property from B-2, General Business to R-4, Multi-family Residential was filed by Pratt Mill Partners, LLC. The Prattville Planning Commission will consider the request during its regularly scheduled meeting at 3pm on April 19, 2012.

Representative for the Pratt Mill Partners, LLC, Burke Lambert stated, "We are pleased to be pursuing the development of the historic Pratt Mill property, which is one of the most beautiful and architecturally important structures left to be redeveloped in the country. The City of Prattville has been a pleasure to work with and we are looking forward to delivering a project that will embraced by the community."

"It has been a pleasure working with all involved," stated Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. "This endeavor will be very beneficial to the City of Prattville as well as Autauga County. We look forward to the future development of this property which should showcase these historic buildings making much the same impact as was made when our fair city was built around them. The timing couldn't be more opportune for Historic Downtown and the citizens of Prattville."

Additional details concerning redevelopment of the Pratt Gin Company site will be released as they become available from Pratt Mill Partners, LLC. Questions concerning the proposed rezoning of the property may be directed to the City of Prattville Planning Department at (334) 361-3613.
