The City of Prattville is committed to providing employees with a benefits program that is both comprehensive and competitive.  Our program offers a broad range of plan options to meet the needs of our diverse workforce.  The program is designed to assist in providing for the health, well-being and financial security of our employees and their families.

 The Human Resources Department administers the plan and is available to answer your benefits questions.

 

Benefit Summary

Group Health Benefits

• The City’s Group Health Plan, is a self-insured plan administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. This plan is a Preferred Provider Organization Plan. The plan uses a network of providers who have agreed to charge discounted rate to plan members. Employees always have the choice to go to any provider, but will pay less by staying within the BCBS network. The Human Resources Department works to contain costs and minimize increases in premiums. Employees and their covered dependents share in the responsibility as well by committing to healthy lifestyles which can aide lowering the costs of benefits.

• The City’s prescription drug benefits administrator is Medone and is paired with the medical plan offered through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama.

• The City’s Employee Assistance Program and Behavioral Health Care Services are administered through Uprise Health. Whether managing everyday issues such as job pressures, relationships, retirement planning, finding child care, or facing grief and loss, this program provides employees the opportunity to speak to a professional counselor confidentially about any type of personal concern that may be affecting their work or personal life. Whereas the EAP addresses everyday living problems, the City’s mental health benefits address clinical issues such as depression, anxiety, abuse, childhood trauma, substance abuse, and other serious disorders.

• The City’s Health and Wellness Center, Premise Health is a unique benefit that our employees enjoy. The Center offers annual physicals, preventive exams, chronic condition treatment, annual health screenings, blood draws, vaccinations, same day appointments and generic medications. All of these services are with no employee co-pay.

Voluntary Benefits

• The City of Prattville offers Dental Insurance coverage to employees through Metlife. The dental plan provides coverage to assist with the cost of many dental services.

• The City of Prattville offers Vision Insurance coverage to employees through VSP. Employees may receive the maximum benefits from this plan by visiting an in-network provider.

• Flexible Spending Accounts are available for medical flexible spending and dependent care. These pre-taxed accounts are administered by Flores and may be accessed through a debit card or manual claims process.

Life Insurance

• The City of Prattville provides a Basic Life and AD & D policy at no cost to the employee. Full-time employee receive coverage of $20,000.00 for the first 10 years of service, $30,000.00 for more than 10 years of service. Elected and Appointed Officials will receive $50,000.00. Enrollment is automatic. An additional optional Life and AD & D insurance plan is offered for the employee and family. These plans are administered through Metlife.

• The City of Prattville offers Short-Term Disability (STD) coverage through Metlife. The STD plan is designed to help the employee meet financial needs if they become unable to work due to illness or injury. Disability insurance provides partial income protections with an employee is unable to work due to illness or injury. o The City of Prattville offers Long-Term Disability coverage through Metlife. Long Term Disability coverage can provide peace of mind for our employees, knowing that they will have income replacement in the event of an extended disability due to an illness or accident.

Other Voluntary Benefits

• The City of Prattville Offers Critical Illness Coverage through Metlife. Critical illness insurance helps to cover expenses not covered by health insurance. It’s a cash payment that is made if the employee experiences a serious illness life cancer, a heart attack, or a stroke, giving employees the financial support to focus on recovery.

• The City of Prattville offers accident insurance through Metlife. Accident insurance is an extra layer of protection that provides a cash payment to cover out-of-pocket expenses when an unexpected, qualifying accident occurs.

Retirement

• The City of Prattville employees are automatically entitled to retirement benefits provided through The Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA), which are public pension funds for state and local employees. Employees contribute a percentage of their salary to the plan and the City contributes a percentage as determined by RSA.

Deferred Compensation Plans

The City of Prattville offers optional Deferred Compensation Plans through Nationwide Retirement, RSA 1, AIG, and Great West. Employees may defer portions of their salary with pre-tax dollars and invest in fixed or low, medium and high-risk investments for use a retirement supplement or long-term savings program.

Holidays and Leave

• The City Council of the City of Prattville has designated the following holidays for the 2023 fiscal year: Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday After Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day and one Personal Holiday.

• The City of Prattville understands the need to have time off from work to relax and spend time with family. We encourage employee to take Vacation Leave to rejuvenate and have fun. The City provides paid Vacation Leave for full-time employees. Detailed information on the Administration of Vacation Leave and the Vacation Accrual Chart are available in the Human Resources Policies and Procedures Manual Section 10.3.

• Full time employees are entitled to Sick Leave with pay, after completing their first full pay period. Detailed information on the Administration of Sick Leave and the Sick Accrual Chart are available in the Human Resources Policies and Procedures Manual Section 10.5.

• The City provides a Military Leave Plan for employees out due to military service. Employees are granted up to 168 hours per year.
