BUILDING & ADOPTED CODES
The City of Prattville Building Department enforces the following code editions for the safety and well-being of the entire Prattville community.
The City of Prattville building code can be found in Chapter 105 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Prattville. Building construction and alteration must follow these standard codes:
- 2021 International Building Code
- 2021 International Plumbing Code
- 2021 International Fuel/Gas Code
- 2021 International Mechanical Code
- 2021 International Fire Code
- 2021 International Existing Building Code
- 2015 International Commercial Energy Code
- 2020 National Electrical Code
- 2021 International Residential Code (with the Alabama Residential Building and Energy Code Amendments which repeals certain sections)
- 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code as referenced in the International Building Code and International Residential Code.
Copies of the standard codes are available for review in the Building Department offices at 102 West Main Street. Full copies of the codes may be obtained from the International Code Council or the National Fire Protection Association.
Amendments: Chapter 105 contains several local amendments adapting the standard codes to local conditions. Local amendments are contained in Section 105-24.
