John Chambers serves as the City Council representative for District 3 in Prattville and has held office since 2020. He currently holds the position of Council President Pro Tempore and focuses his work on responsible fiscal stewardship, infrastructure investment, and maintaining reliable, high-quality public services for residents. He is also committed to working collaboratively with Autauga County and other local partners to support shared services, responsible planning, and long-term outcomes that benefit the broader community.
His committee work includes service on the Finance, Wastewater, and Parks & Recreation Committees, where his focus includes fiscal oversight, economic development, infrastructure planning, long-term system reliability, and the maintenance and enhancement of parks and recreational programs that support quality of life for residents and families. In addition, he chairs the Public Safety, Judicial, and Information Technology Committees, addressing matters related to emergency services, court operations, and the effective use of technology to support efficient and transparent City operations.
Earlier in his tenure, Councilman Chambers served on the Planning and Sanitation Committees, applying his understanding of land-use decisions and essential City services in support of the Council’s work.
John has called Prattville home since 1980. A graduate of Prattville High School, he attended Auburn University, where he studied Business Management and served as Treasurer for Tiger Pride, an organization supporting Auburn’s women’s basketball program.
John and his wife, Lorna, raised their two daughters, Krisan and Kannan, in Prattville, both graduates of Prattville High School. His support for education is rooted in family and experience; his mother served Autauga County Schools as a teacher and counselor for 32 years, and he and his daughters are all products of the Autauga County Board of Education. These experiences shaped his appreciation for the role public education plays in preparing future generations.
His father’s 30 years of service in the United States Air Force shaped his understanding of the vital role the military plays in the River Region, including its impact on local families, the workforce, and the area’s long-term stability. John continues that connection through his membership in American Legion Post 122, reflecting his support for veterans and the military community.
Before his election to the City Council, John volunteered as a youth basketball coach with the Prattville YMCA and helped broadcast local high school basketball games for the Prattville Lions Network. He remains active in the community through the Lions Club and Rotary Club.
