TRASH COLLECTION

Yard trash is collected once a week in the City of Prattville. Trash is defined as limbs, leaves, grass clippings, boxes, etc. Each neighborhood is completed on the schedule before trucks move on to another. During the period of October 1st through April 15th of each year, tree or shrubbery leaves are exempt from the requirement to be placed in bags or boxes. Tree or shrubbery leaves must be placed behind the curb or street in orderly piles.

Curbside pickup of excess amounts of trash or other items such as appliances and furniture require a fee, payable in advance, and scheduled by the Sanitation Department. 

Guidelines:

• Items should not be placed in the gutter, on the sidewalk, or in the street.
• Items should be placed at least 4 ft. away from any objects that prevent proper and safe operation of the sanitation truck or equipment (vehicle, utility pole, mailbox, tree, etc.).
• The city does not pick up excessive construction materials (lumber, sheetrock, brick, metal roofing, concrete, etc.).
• Licensed companies doing work (cutting trees, laying carpets, etc.) are responsible for removing debris. The load will be subject to a commercial fee if left on the curb for collection by the City. 
• The city does not pick up dirt, stumps, tires, or trees.
• City ordinance states all leaves, grass clippings, and pine straws must be in bags or boxes from April 15th- October 1st of each year.
