The Building Division of the Planning and Development Department enables builders, homeowners, commercial real estate investors, contractors, and many more with timely permitting and inspections. More importantly, they ensure the safety and welfare of every citizen as our top priority as we enforce the international building codes fairly throughout the community.

Building Codes
The City of Prattville Building Division enforces the following code editions for the safety and well-being of the entire Prattville community.
All building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, and zoning inspections are scheduled through the Building Division.
Permits are required for all construction activities covered by the Prattville Building and Development Codes (Chapters 26 and 105, Code of Ordinances of the City of Prattville). Residential (one and two family) developments require a basic application and review following the process listed below. Commercial, industrial and multi-family projects follow the process detailed in Commercial Projects.
Commercial development includes all uses other than one and two-family residential structures. Development permits are required for all new structures and sites, redevelopments, renovations/additions, changes of use classification, tenant improvements, and commercial build-outs.
