TOMMY MERRICK

City Councilor | District 4

Tommy Merrick is a resident of Prattville, Alabama since 1971.  Son of the late John Merrick (Philadelphia Pa), a Korean and Vietnam War Vet, and Sue Merrick (South Korea), the ultimate team mom and volunteer.  Tommy is a graduate of Prattville High School where he was a 3 Star letterman in baseball.  Tommy was also a member of the Pride of Prattville Marching Band where he played snare drum for 4 years.  Tommy went to Huntingdon College on a Baseball Scholarship.  Tommy graduated with a degree in Speech and Drama.

Tommy previously volunteered as a youth minister at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church.  This led to a two-year stint as Youth Minister at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Mobile.  Where he was also an assistant baseball coach at McGill - Toolen Catholic High School.  Tommy has been working for Southern Company for over 28 years.  Working in different roles from Customer Service, Outside Sales, Inside Sales, Store Manager, and Territory Manager. 

Tommy is a member of The Knights of Columbus for over 30 years.  Member of the Lions Club.  Member of LifeSouth Montgomery Advisory Board.  Member of the Alabama Power Service Organization.  Member of American Cancer Society for Autauga County.  Tommy was the Top Fundraising Candidate for Real Men Wear Pink in 2017.

Elected February 28th, 2023, following a special election for the District 4 Council position.  Currently serving as Chair of the Public Works Committee.  He serves as a member of the Parks and Recreation Committee and Street Committee.

In his spare time, Tommy enjoys exercise, playing golf, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.

Tommy and his mother Sue currently attend Saint Joseph's Catholic Church.
