Prattville’s Way Off Broadway Announces Auditions for The Amen Corner
Prattville’s Way Off Broadway Theatre announces auditions for the award winning play, The Amen Corner, by James Baldwin, to be produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, INC. The production will be directed by Tara Fenn, former President of the Board of Directors at WOBT.
Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday, December 10 and 11, at 6:00p.m. at the Prattville Cultural Arts Center at 203 West 4th Street in Prattville. You do not need to attend both sessions. Possible callbacks will be held on Wednesday, December 12, at 6:00p.m. Mrs. Fenn is looking for a talented cast of eight African-American women and five African-American men of various ages, in addition to a mixed-ensemble cast of six people. Character lists and more information about the play are available on the website, Facebook page, and at the Cultural Arts Center.
Auditions are open to anyone interested. Please prepare 30 seconds of a gospel song to sing a Capella. Instrument auditions are also welcome. Piano players are needed for at least a few cast members. We will be doing readings from the script following the music portion of the auditions. Acting resumes and pictures are appreciated, but not necessary, and actors should bring all available information as far as any scheduling conflicts they might have from December through March.
The Amen Corner will open on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a reception to meet the cast and crew following the play. The remaining performances of the production will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from February 15 through March 3, 2019.
