Prattville to Honor Alabama’s Musical Legacy

Alabama’s rich heritage of musical talent will be the focus of this year’s annual dinner saluting the arts in Alabama. In conjunction with Prattville’s Celebration of the Arts and Alabama 200: 2018 the Year of our People, the Prattville Creative and Performing Arts Council will sponsor A Night Honoring Alabama’s Musical Legacy. The event will be held on Saturday, May 5, at the Marriott Legends at Capitol Hill.

This gala evening will feature music from many different genres and the singers, musicians, songwriters and others in the music industry who helped to create music as we know it today. Alabama has produced some of the greatest musical talents both nationally and internationally. From the stars of country music like Hank Williams, Alabama, Tammy Wynette and Jason Isbell, to the greats of jazz and rhythm and blues, W.C. Handy, Nat King Cole, Lionel Richie, Percy Sledge, and Prattville’s own Wilson Pickett, everyone will enjoy a walk down memory lane, learning new things about our old favorites and about new Alabama talent who are taking the music scene by storm.

Festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a reception and silent auction benefiting the Friends of the Arts fund. Local businesses, organizations and individuals have donated wonderful items like, wine, crystal, gift certificates, furniture, jewelry, artwork and more.

A gourmet dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. and will include a musical adventure celebrating the legends of Alabama music, featuring some of the River Region’s most talented performers.
