Prattville Mayor Jim Byard, Jr. has announced that tomorrow, public works crews will begin removing debris from today’s storm. “Public works crews will be working in Country Club Estates, Oakleigh Heights, Perrydale Loop and Overlook/Prattville East neighborhoods tomorrow morning,” said Mayor Byard. “Our Street Department will join the Sanitation Department to complete the clean-up from the storm,” he continued.

Several homes in these neighborhoods were damaged by downed trees. Many carports, awnings, and outbuildings were damaged or destroyed as a result of the storms. “National Weather Service (NWS) officials will join Autauga Emergency Management Agency (EMA) officials in Prattville on Wednesday to assess these areas to determine if the damage was a result of a tornado or straight-line winds,” continued the Mayor. Ding How Chinese restaurant, Alabama Auto Insurance and Prattville Intermediate School received damage as well.

The Mayor asked that citizens report storm damage to the Autauga EMA offices at 334-361-3758. Further, he reminded citizens to use only reputable, licensed contractors for repairs. “The Greater Montgomery Homebuilders Association or the Alabama Homebuilders Licensure Board are great resources for information about potential contractors,” he said.
