Prattville Mayor Jim Byard, Jr. met today with CityFest organizers, and representatives of Prattville Baptist Hospital, Alabama Department of Public Health, Autauga Emergency Management Agency, and the Prattville Police and Fire Departments about this weekend’s outdoor festival and the H1N1 virus (swine flu) outbreak. “We discussed the H1N1/swine flu situation and CityFest activities, and have no plans at this time to cancel the events,” said Mayor Byard. “I urge our citizens to come out and enjoy the activities of CityFest as normal, however, use common sense and take responsible actions to protect themselves and their families,” he continued.

Much information is available on the H1N1 virus (swine flu) and can be found on Prattville’s website, www.prattville.com which features links to the CDC and the ADPH. Baptist Health, the Alabama Department of Public Health, the Autauga EMA, and both the Prattville Police and Fire Departments are scheduled to have booths along with 140 other arts, crafts, and food vendors.
