The City of Prattville is pleased to announce Ermon Richmond as Grand Marshal for the annual Christmas Parade on Friday, December 6, 2019.

Ermon is known in Prattville and the River Region for his love and generous support of the arts.  He moved to Prattville from Huntsville approximately 20 years ago when he married his wife, Billie Margaret, after having initially met and dated in Louisiana in the 1950’s.  Here he has served as a member of the Prattville Creative and Performing Arts Council Board of Directors and as an active volunteer for numerous years.

Ermon retired in Huntsville as Lieutenant Colonel after having served in the United States Army for over 20 years.  During his time in service he received numerous medals and decorations to include two Bronze Stars for serving greater than two years in combat during the 1960’s and The Legion of Merit for his work in research and development of defensive missile systems during the 1970’s.  Following retirement, Ermon served in numerous organizations at the local and state level and was recognized as the Huntsville/Madison County Volunteer of the Year.

Soon after relocating to Prattville, Ermon and Billie went to Thailand twice where they served as missionaries and taught English during the early 2000’s.

Ermon loves singing and has since his fourth grade teacher dressed him with a bowtie and had him perform several songs as Frank Sinatra in front of the entire student body.  In Prattville, Ermon has served as president of the Prattville Community Chorus and sings bass as a member of the Choir at First Baptist Church of Prattville.  In 2015, Ermon had the opportunity, along with Billie, to travel to New York, where Ermon sang in the choir onstage in Carnegie Hall with Sandi Patty.

Ermon “worked his way through college” and holds a BSE in Printing and Graphic Arts from Arkansas State University.

The City of Prattville is proud to have Ermon as a resident and active member of the community, helping to make Prattville a great place to live, work and play.  The Prattville Christmas Parade will be held on Friday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. in downtown Prattville.  For more information, contact the Special Event Office at 334-595-0850.
