On June 7th, Governor Bentley signed an emergency drought condition declaration that implemented a “no burn order” for the entire State of Alabama until further notice.

Due to drought conditions, it is more important than ever that residents are aware that it is illegal to possess or use fireworks in the City limits. We want our residents to avoid tragedy and enjoy our nation’s birthday without adding the risk and hazards of handling fireworks on their own.

“Please come down and join us at Stanley-Jensen Stadium for our hometown 4th of July fireworks celebration,” said Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. “Celebrating the birth of our nation, together as a community, is a tradition held dear by our residents.”

The City fireworks program is provided in a safe environment and controlled by professionals. The stadium opens at 6 p.m. with the fireworks display beginning at dark. This event is free to the public.

If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding fireworks or the no burn order, you may contact the City Fire Marshal at (334) 361-3273 or by email, .
