The City of Prattville will observe the National Day of Prayer with a breakfast sponsored by Mayor Jim Byard, Jr. and the Prattville Christian Ministers’ Fellowship at Doster Community Center on Thursday, May 6, 2010. This year’s program will feature guest speaker Pastor John Schmidt, Senior Pastor for the new Centerpoint Fellowship Church. Prayer will be offered for government officials, our education system, our businesses, our churches, the media, our military, and our families.

President Harry S. Truman officially recognized the First National Day of Prayer in 1952, and President Ronald Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the official day for this observance. “I urge our citizens to join me as we come together as Christians to pray for our City, our State, and our Nation,” said Mayor Byard.

The serving line opens at 6:45 a.m., with the hour long program beginning at 7:00 a.m. Tickets are $8.00 and are available at local churches, as well as the Mayor’s office.
