Working with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), the City of Prattville has been able to forge a partnership for our splash pad project resulting from the "America is Your Park" grant challenge. ADEM has done a number of projects using recycled tires. This will be their first splash pad project.

"We're excited not only to find this funding, but also to be working closely with ADEM," stated Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. "These funds will not only add significantly to our project, but using recycled materials is an environmentally responsible action for us to take."

These funds will be utilized for the poured in place surface, which will be comprised of recycled rubber beading made from old tires and tennis shoes. Using this material effectively keeps these items from entering landfills.

Mayor Gillespie is putting out the call to all "Vote Pratt Park" team members. If you're interested in being involved in the process of deciding on placement, design and installation of the splash pad, please contact him at so that we might include you on the project team.
