City offices will be closed for the 4th of July holiday. Sanitation will not collect any household garbage or yard trash on that day. However, the Recycling Center at 122 Ridgewood Road will be open on July 5th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will have a garbage truck and a yard trash truck on site if any resident would like to drop off their items.

We will also have garbage trucks parked in the lot at 508 McQueen Smith Road (behind Hancock Bank and beside Gilmore Ford) to collect garbage and/or yard trash. All garbage or trash must be bagged. They will be there from 8 a.m. to Noon on July 5th.

"Catching up on Sanitation service after a holiday is difficult, but we hope that this amended schedule and additional service location will accommodate our residents," said Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. "We are looking to find innovative ways to service our patrons and afford our valuable personnel family time on holidays."

We have many events planned for July 4th and hope that you will join us. Our traditional 4th of July Parade begins at 9 a.m. at the Autauga County Courthouse and runs through downtown to Pratt Park. The Lions' Club BBQ and Cardboard Boat Races begin at 10 a.m. in Pratt Park and Pratt Pool, respectively. We'll end the nation's birthday with a patriotic program and fireworks extravaganza at Stanley-Jensen Stadium...gates open at 6 p.m.

"Independence Day in Prattville is a fun-filled, family-friendly day of patriotism," stated Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. "There is no better place to be than small town America on this nation's birthday and we like to think we do it better than anyone else. We'll be honoring our Gulf War veterans as grand marshals throughout the day. I hope everyone will join me downtown for the parade and in America's Favorite Park 2012, Pratt Park, for the rest of the morning events and also at the stadium for our fireworks program."
