Every year, the Autauga County Improvement Association coordinates the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a parade. With this year marking the 50th anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery March, Reverend Johnny Davis expects it to be bigger than ever.

The parade begins at Stanley-Jensen Stadium at 9 a.m. on Monday, January 19th. Once parade participants leave the stadium, they will move down Doster Road to Northington Street to Main Street to Chestnut Street, which turns into Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, to First Missionary Baptist Church on Seventh Street where the celebration culminates in a church service in King's honor.

"This is an event that I always enjoy," stated Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. "This parade is filled with song, praise, hope and always has a great turnout. I hope that everyone will come out and join us in celebrating Dr. King."

The City of Prattville offices will be closed on January 19th in observance of the holiday. Sanitation will not collect Residential Yard Trash or Household Garbage on that day.

Monday & Tuesday Household Garbage routes will be collected as on Tuesday, January 20th. Wednesday through Friday Household Garbage routes will be run as normally scheduled.
Monday's Residential Yard Trash will be collected on Tuesday, January 20th. On Wednesday, January 21st, Sanitation will collect all Tuesday and begin Wednesday Residential Yard Trash routes. On Thursday, January 22nd, they will finish Wednesday and begin Thursday Residential Yard Trash routes. On Friday, January 23rd, crews will finish Thursday and complete Friday Residential Yard Trash routes.
