ELECTION INFORMATION

*The City of Prattville elects the following positions at each 4-year election term:

• Mayor -  (90-day residency requirement)

• Council Members - Candidates run for election in the district in which they live (90-day residency requirement).

The Alabama League of Municipalities has published "Duties of the Mayor and Council" to help understand the distinct roles and separation of duties. 

Last general election was held in 2020. In 2021, the Alabama State Legislature voted to move municipal elections off the same calendar year as presidential elections. Officials elected in 2020 will serve until 2025. Municipal elections will be held on the 4th Tuesday in August, 2025.

The City Clerk's office is responsible for overseeing the election process.

Notice of Election of Municipal Officers

Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, an election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and a Councilor for each single member district:  District 1, District 2, District 3, District 4, District 5, District 6, and District 7 for the City of Prattville, Alabama, will be held and that all registered and qualified electors of the state, who reside within the Corporate Limits of Prattville, Alabama, and have resided therein for 30 days or more immediately preceding the date of the election, and who are qualified to vote in the county precinct which embraces and covers that part of the Corporate Limits of Prattville in which the elector resides, will be authorized to participate in the election. 

 

The polls will be opened at 7:00 a.m. and remain open continuously until 7:00 p.m. at the regular polling or voting places in Prattville as follows:

District 5:       Heritage Baptist Church, 1357 S. Memorial Drive               

District 6:       Trinity United Methodist Church, 610 Fairview Avenue                

District 7:       Doster Memorial Community Center, 424 S. Northington Street

 

          

 

 

If necessary, a run-off election will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

Any qualified elector who will have resided within the Corporate Limits of the City of Prattville, and within the district from which he or she seeks election, for a period of at least 90 days on August 26, 2025, may qualify to run for office by filing the appropriate forms and paying any appropriate fees, as otherwise provided by law.

Absentee ballot applications and absentee ballots may be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office, Prattville City Hall, 101 West Main Street, Prattville, Alabama 36067, during regular office hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. for lunch) Municipal absentee ballots will be available starting July 29, 2025.

Candidates may begin qualifying at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in the City Clerk’s Office, Prattville City Hall, 101 West Main Street. The deadline to file a Statement of Candidacy is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

REGISTER TO VOTE

To register to vote, choose one of the following options below. Once complete, your County Board of Registrars will mail you a voter identification card upon determining that you are eligible to vote in your county.  The voter identification card will provide the name and address of your polling locations, including the location for the municipal election.
