MAKE-UP WORKSHOP

Scars and Special Effects, Age and Character Makeup.  Students will be taught the fundamentals of makeup, safety, sanitation, hygiene, and more! WOBT will provide the supplies for the class. Ages 12 and up

Unleash your inner Picasso with a professional makeup artist! SFX makeup is your magic wand for creating jaw-dropping characters with wild effects like aging, battle scars, and more. Perfect for turning heads on TV and stealing the show in theatrical performances!

The workshop instructor is Somica Spratley. Somica Spratley is an industry makeup artist and member of the IATSE 798 union. She began her career at beauty counters, later training at the Aveda Institute, Ryder Makeup Labs, and Toxic Image Studios. Over the past decade, her editorial work has been locally featured and has earned film credits with HBO, Netflix, and Shudder. Somica has also received recognition as an independent filmmaker making her directorial debut at the Sidewalk Film Festival and as the 2021 recipient of the Black Lens Filmmaker Grant (in partnership with Stacey Davis Law). Through her expansive skill set and unique interests, she aspires to be a socially responsible artist as a voice for diversity.
