PRATTVILLE — On Friday, September 19, 2025, Owens Corning announced Prattville, Alabama as its next location for an advanced asphalt roofing shingle plant to be located in the South Industrial Park located off of Highway 82. Federal, state and local officials gathered to make the reveal announcement with Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary, Ellen McNair, on behalf of Governor Kay Ivey.
The facility is expected to create nearly 100 skilled manufacturing jobs and is the largest single initial capital investment in the City of Prattville’s history. Locating on approximately 190 acres in the South Industrial Park, Prattville and Autauga County will see construction jobs and permanent highly technical manufacturing jobs increase in the local market.
The new plant will operate a four-wide laminator capable of producing approximately 6 million squares of laminate shingles per year.
“Our new Prattville facility will service our growing contractor network as we strengthen our U.S. manufacturing footprint,” said Nico Del Monaco, Owens Corning Roofing President. “We are proud to join the Prattville community and expand Owens Corning’s presence in Alabama. This is an attractive location to service our customers, with a dedicated workforce that takes pride in producing a quality product. We look forward to deepening our engagement with the local community.”
Mayor Bill Gillespie Jr. thanked the company directly for selecting his city for its growth project.
“Your decision to invest in Prattville showcases your commitment to innovation and excellence in building materials but also represents a significant milestone for our local economy, which promises to create high-quality jobs, stimulate growth and strengthen our workforce for generations to come,” Gillespie said. “Together, we look forward to a long and prosperous partnership as we build a brighter future for all.”
Autauga County Commission Chairman Jay Thompson said he is looking forward to supporting Owens Corning’s success and celebrating an exciting chapter for the community.
“This is just the beginning of a promising partnership that will bring jobs to our community — jobs that will provide stability and help feed families,” Thompson said. “These opportunities will have a meaningful impact on our residents, offering economic growth and a brighter future for families in Prattville and beyond. As a high-performing building products leader, Owens Corning’s presence will strengthen our local economy and support the dreams of many.”
CSX and Alabama Power Company joined the team on Friday to celebrate the impact on rail and power service for the new facility.
“CSX is proud to partner with Owens Corning on this historic investment, which will help drive economic growth for Autauga County and the state of Alabama,” said Christina Bottomley, Vice President of Business Development and Real Estate for CSX. “The decision to build this state-of-the-art facility on a certified CSX Select Site highlights the power of effective collaboration and the strategic advantage of rail transportation.”
