PRATTVILLE, AL – The City of Prattville is proud to announce that Mr. Willie J. Rogers has been selected as the Grand Marshal for the 2026 Prattville Fourth of July Parade, as the community celebrates America’s 250th Birthday.
A dedicated veteran, community leader, and advocate for service, Mr. Rogers embodies the spirit of patriotism and volunteerism that has helped shape both Prattville and our nation. His lifelong commitment to veterans, youth, and civic engagement makes him an ideal choice to lead this historic celebration.
Mr. Rogers served 20 years in the United States Air Force and continues his service today through his involvement with American Legion Post 122 as a member of the Legion, Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion. Known throughout the community as “Commander Rogers,” he recently completed a term as State Commander for the Department of Alabama American Legion, serving as a leading voice for veterans across the state.
His dedication to supporting the next generation is evident through his longstanding involvement with the Prattville High School JROTC program. Each year, he attends the program’s awards ceremony and presents the American Legion Post 122 Scholarship Award for Cadet of the Year. He also serves on the National Oratorical Commission and has devoted 14 years to the Department of Alabama Oratorical Commission, including 12 years as Chairman. Additionally, he serves as Chairman of the Children and Youth Commission and is a member of the Boys State Commission.
Mr. Rogers has worked tirelessly to honor and support veterans. He coordinates Veterans Day and Memorial Day programs in partnership with local veteran service organizations and the City of Prattville. As a member of the Alabama War Memorial Committee, he helped secure $300,000 in funding and spearheaded the renovation of the Montgomery War Memorial, ensuring the sacrifices of Alabama’s veterans continue to be remembered for generations to come.
Beyond his military and civic service, Mr. Rogers remains active in community outreach through his church, participating in programs that support local schools and students. In recognition of his character, leadership, and service, he was named the recipient of the 2025 Frank Lamar Citizen of Character Award by the Prattville Autauga Character Coalition.
As Prattville joins communities across the nation in celebrating 250 years of American independence, Mr. Rogers represents the values of service, sacrifice, patriotism, and community that have defined our country since its founding.
“Willie Rogers’ spirit shines brighter than fireworks,” said Prattville officials. “His unwavering dedication to veterans, youth, and our community makes him exceptionally deserving of this honor. We are proud to have him lead this year’s America 250 Fourth of July Parade.”
The Prattville Fourth of July Parade will take place on July 4, 2026, as part of a community-wide celebration commemorating America’s Semiquincentennial. Residents and visitors are encouraged to join in honoring this historic milestone and celebrating the remarkable individuals who help make Prattville such a special place to call home.
The City of Prattville’s America 250 celebration will include several events leading up to the main day of festivities, including the Prattville Cruise-In at the Lyric, the Pops and Chorus Patriotic Concert, and the July 3rd Concert and Drone Show. After the parade, grab a fresh snack at Prattville Farmers Market, and visit the Lions Club’s Annual BBQ at Pratt Park for more festivities. The celebration continues with Rock the Lot at the Academy Sports parking lot, where attendees can enjoy live entertainment, food, and family-friendly activities before the evening ends with Prattville’s annual fireworks spectacular lighting up the night sky.
