RESOLUTION
[Notice of Special Election for Councilor of District 5.]
WHEREAS, in Resolution Book 2023-B, Page 244, on November 7, 2023, the City Council of
the City of Prattville declared a vacancy in Council District 5; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to §11-43-65, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, the City Council
announced its intent to hold a special election to fill said vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired
term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Prattville that notice
is hereby given that on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, an election for the purpose of electing a Councilor
for District 5 for the City of Prattville, AL, will be held and that all registered and qualified electors of the
State, who reside within the limits of District 5 of Prattville, AL, and have resided therein for 30 days or
more immediately preceding the date of the election, and who are qualified to vote will be authorized
to participate in the election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the polls will be opened at 7:00 a.m. and remain open
continuously until 7:00 p.m. at 1357 S. Memorial Drive, Heritage Baptist Church.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED a run-off election will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, if
necessary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED any qualified elector who will have resided within the City of
Prattville District 5 for a period of at least 90 days on February 13, 2024, may qualify to run for office
by filing the appropriate forms and paying any appropriate fees, as otherwise provided by law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that absentee ballot applications and absentee ballots may be
obtained at the City Clerk’s Office, Prattville City Hall, 101 West Main Street, Prattville, AL 36067, during
regular office hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (closed from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
for lunch). Municipal absentee ballots will be available after January 16, 2024.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that candidates may begin qualifying at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday,
December 12, 2023, in the City Clerk’s Office, Prattville City Hall, 101 West Main Street. The deadline
to file a Statement of Candidacy is 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
