Prattville, AL — This holiday season, the heart of Prattville will transform into a winter wonderland for visitors of all ages. With thousands of twinkling lights, an ice-skating rink, charming carousel rides, carriage rides around historic downtown, and more.
Prattville invites you to experience the joy of Christmas in a place that feels like something out of a Hallmark movie. Starting early December, the entire downtown district will be draped with Christmas lights and decor, bringing a “Merry & Bright” celebration to life.
“Prattville will shine brighter this holiday season, with hundreds of thousands of lights!” said Kellie Carter, Prattville Parks and Recreation Director. “Our department starts planning in the summer to bring new light displays, attractions and events so downtown visitors can make Christmas memories that will last a lifetime.”
Among the featured attractions:
Dazzling Light Displays – From December 4 through January 5, the downtown district will be decked out in thousands of holiday lights, creating perfect for photo stops and festive strolls.
Ice Skating and Carousel Rides in Spillway Park– Beginning December 4 and running through December 31, the downtown park has a full-sized outdoor ice-skating rink and vintage-style carousel in true winter wonderland style.
Christmas Market and Pictures with Santa – The new Spillway Park Pavilion will be the home of the Prattville Christmas Market. Lined with homemade craft vendors, holiday bakers, and a variety of food trucks, the market will be open Friday-Sunday from 5-9 pm and during special events. In addition, free professional pictures with jolly ole Saint Nick will be available.
Prattville offers a series of special events during the holidays, including:
Tree Lighting & Live Band – On December 4 at 7 pm, in Spillway Park the community gathers for the annual Tree Lighting ceremony and a live band performance to kick off the season. A special visitor will arrive after the tree is lit to hear children’s holiday wishes.
Parade & Festive Events – The city’s Annual Christmas Parade will roll through downtown on December 5 at 7 pm. Prattville has one of the biggest holiday parades in the state featuring over 100 floats, lights, local marching bands, and plenty of candy.
Main Street Christmas featuring the second annual Cocoa and Characters – A night encouraging visitors to shop downtown and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas with performances and free carriage rides. Stop by Way Off Broadway Theatre for free hot chocolate and pictures with your favorite Christmas characters.
