The City of Prattville has announced that this year's Christmas tree lighting will be held on Thursday, December 5th, beginning at 5 p.m., in front of City Hall. In addition to the tree lighting, there will be a "Winter Wonderland" at Heritage Park. Santa Claus will make a special appearance with his elves and life-size sleigh. The fountain will be transformed into a "Candy Cane" fountain with candy canes available for the children.
There will be performances by the Centre for the Performing Arts, Mann Dance Studio, CJ's Dance Studio, as well as the Prattville Pops and the Prattville Community Chorus. The public is invited to attend this free, holiday event.
The annual Christmas parade will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 6th. The theme for this year's parade is "Hometown Christmas." This year, the City of Prattville Grand Marshal will be Shelby Belinge, a 17-year-old that received life threating injuries in a car accident earlier in the year.
"Shelby is very excited and honored," said mother, Jennifer Belinge. "Prattville has been amazing since her accident. She is a very positive and happy 17-year-old that understands God has given her a platform and purpose."
