City of Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. and Autauga County Board of Education Superintendent Spence Agee have issued a joint proclamation officially proclaiming Wednesday, October 5th to be Walk to School Day in the City of Prattville.

Two elementary schools in Prattville, and one in Pine Level, will be observing the occasion by encouraging parents to come and walk with their children in a variety of ways, such as walking to school, meeting-up and walking to school from an alternate site, or walking during their regular Physical Education class to promote walking and healthy, active living.

Prattville Primary, Daniel Pratt Elementary, and Pine Level Elementary are all participating in this important event.

“Walk to School Day is an exciting experience for students and parents alike,” said Superintendent Spence Agee. “This opportunity brings about health and pedestrian safety awareness. What a great event to share with your child!”

“Walk to School Day provides us an opportunity to partner with Autauga County Schools in a positive way,” stated Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. “With a focus on health, as well as family time, this event is a win-win. I hope students and their parents will consider joining us before school on October 8th in support of their school and childhood obesity prevention.”
