Jazz in the Park Flyer

Plan to kick back and enjoy some live music August 10 at the Pratt Park Amphitheater as the Magic City Smooth Jazz brings its 2019 Jazz in the Park series to Prattville.

This free concert will feature local jazz musicians the Coleman Woodson Group and Tony Exum, Jr. and will be a great musical experience for jazz lovers as well as those who want to know more about jazz.

“We are excited to have this opportunity to bring the Jazz in the Park Series to Prattville for the first time and to help to promote a genre of music that has influenced many of the types of music that we enjoy today,” said Barbara Simpson, Cultural Arts and Special Events Coordinator for the City of Prattville.  Magic City Smooth Jazz is celebrating its 10th season.  The 2019 series began in April and by the end of the series in mid-October, Jazz in the Park will have presented concerts in more than a dozen cities across Alabama.

According to Bernard Lockhart, Founder and Executive Director, Magic City Smooth Jazz has a mission to expose and engage audiences in culturally underserved communities in the state of Alabama to various styles of jazz music at no cost to the public.

There will be food vendors and picnic baskets and coolers are welcome, but no alcoholic beverages or glass containers are allowed.  Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the music. This concert is free and open to the public.

The Jazz in the Park concert series is made possible in part by grants from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and National Endowment for the Arts.
