For the 8th straight year, the Prattville Swim League has won the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association District V Championship. Held this year in Valley, Alabama, PSL won 16 of 20 relay events. In addition, over 80 swimmers qualified to swim in the state championship meet, which will be held in Opelika later this month.

Coach Joe Reynolds attributes the team's success to many factors. "We have great assistant coaches, great support for Prattville's Leisure Services and YMCA, great parent volunteers, and, most of all, great kids are our formula for success," said Reynolds.

Prattville was led by dominating performances from sisters Madison and MacKenzie Brown (13 & 14 girls), seniors Sarah Reynolds and Peyton Langley, Jonah Troup (9 & 10 boys), Taite Langley (11 & 12), and Tristan Essary (13 & 14 boys).

"These swimmers won every event they swam and provided their relays with some fast swims," added Coach Reynolds. Over 100 swimmers from Prattville attended the meet in Valley.

With a total roster of over 170 athletes, PSL has built a solid reputation as one of the city's flagship recreation and YMCA programs. Since 2000 PSL has placed among the top three teams in the Recreation League state championships and boasts one of the state's largest swimming teams. Reynolds hopes for another stellar showing at the state championships.

"I'll give the kids one whole day to rest, Sunday, then we're back in the pool on Monday. We can't lose our edge and have to focus these next two weeks on getting even better," Reynolds stated.
