Newton Park "D.I." Generates Improved Parking & Curb Appeal

October 11, 2016

Over the past month, our Engineering Department & Street Division have been working on Newton Park to improve drainage. They piped the existing drainage ditch, which in turn, has provided more parking for patrons of the park.

"No matter whether you are there to play tennis, softball or utilize the playground, the additional parking should be beneficial to all who visit Newton Park," stated City Engineer Robby Anderson.

A handicap-accessible walkway will be added to get patrons from the parking lot to the existing path.

Time and materials were provided in-house by Engineering. Had it been contracted out, it would have cost the City upwards of $5,000. Urban Management will be landscaping the area for further curb appeal.

The finished parking area will be further enhanced with landscaping and possible parking spot curbing.

Thank you to all involved on these improvements. These improvements are much appreciated! Job well done!
