Prattville Mayor Jim Byard, Jr. will join members of the Autauga County Heritage Association to celebrate Daniel Pratt's 210th birthday by placing a wreath on his grave. Mr. Pratt, born on July 20, 1799, and known as "Alabama's First Industrialist", founded Prattville in 1839. Descendants of the Pratt family traditionally attend this annual event at the family cemetery, just off Gin Shop Hill overlooking the buildings which housed Pratt's manufacturing enterprises.

After the wreath laying ceremony, the Heritage Association will host a "Founder's Day Reception" at the Prattauga Museum-Heritage Center, 102 East Main Street, across from Prattville City Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.

"I encourage residents to join me at Mr. Pratt's grave site and the reception to celebrate his birth. It is fitting that we, as a community, gather to remember and honor our founder," Mayor Byard emphasized.
