City Officials Break Ground on Mac Gray Park Capital Project
March 13, 2017
Mayor Gillespie and members of the City Council joined Parks & Rec staff for a groundbreaking at Mac Gray Park on Friday, March 10th. Demolition had been accomplished earlier in the week and now renovations can begin.
Phase 1 of this renovation will include a complete rebuild of field 3 and adding new lighting, as well as, building a new concession stand/scorekeeping building. Phase 2 will begin shortly after with the addition of a 4th field.
Mac Gray is currently used by Parks and Recreation for church league, men’s league and co-ed softball.
“It is a wonderful feeling to know that we have cash on hand to pay for this project,” stated Parks and Recreation Director Kellie Cook. “The lodging fee funds capital projects for my department and is not a burden on the citizens of Prattville. It is paid by those who come here for events and to use our sports facilities. We appreciate their patronage and investment in the very facilities that are important to them.”
