Grayson_RussellThe City of Prattville has announced that local actor Grayson Russell, will serve as this year’s grand marshal for the city’s annual Christmas parade, scheduled for Saturday, December 4th at 4pm. This year’s theme is “Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree,” and serves as a kickoff for the 2011 year of Music.

Russell made his film debut in “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.” He has currently been filming the second installment of the “Diary of Wimpy Kid” movie, in which he plays Fregley, the hyper, weird classmate. He has recently starred in an episode of a new Disney series, “I’m In the Band.” Locally, he starred in various McKinnon Motors commercials that ended with his tagline “You’ll be grinnin’ when you buy from McKinnon.”

“We hosted Grayson for the premiere of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and look forward to having Grayson back as our Grand Marshal,” said Mayor Jim Byard, Jr. “I am excited that he will lead our annual Christmas Parade, as we begin the holiday season.”

The parade route will begin at the Autauga County Courthouse, turning left on 4th Street. The entries will then turn left onto Washington and right on Wetumpka Street. The parade will then turn right on Northington Street and continue to Main Street, where the entries will continue through the downtown area. The parade will end at the Autauga County Courthouse.

Applications for this year’s parade are available on the event page. The fee is $30 per entry with a business having no more than two entries. For more information, call the Special Events Office at 358-0297 or email .
