Prattville is gearing up for its first annual Street Dance to get families excited about starting back to school the following week. The event will be held on Friday, August 7th at the Downtown Creekwalk from 7-10pm.  There will be food vendors on site and live music provided by the Sweet Young’Uns.  Admission is free.

“This is the last weekend before school begins in Autauga County.  Our street dance provides an opportunity for residents to get together and celebrate the end of a great summer vacation while looking forward to the upcoming school year”, said Mayor Jim Byard.  “Street dances are, by nature, fun and I invite everyone to join me for this Sweet Young ‘Uns concert,” he continued.

The City of Prattville has provided families with fun, free alternatives to pricey events all summer, including the movies under the stars and the 4th of July activities and this is just one more event it plans to offer the community. There will be more than just a concert for on goers to enjoy. There will be a watermelon seed spitting and rind throwing contest, sponsored by the Prattville Downtown Unlimited and  lots of kids activities to keep them entertained throughout the night, including a free bouncy slide.
