As a mark of respect, and to honor our fellow American citizens that lost their lives in the ruthless terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Prattville Mayor Jim Byard, Jr. has ordered flags at all City facilities to be flown at half-staff on Friday, September 11, 2009.

To further mark the significance of the day, the Woodmen of the World, Lodge 298 will join officials and first responders for a brief moment of silence and ceremony at Prattville Fire Station #3, 1904 Briarwood Street at 7:45 a.m. Friday morning.

“I urge all of the citizens of Prattville to join me by displaying flags, offering prayers, engaging in service, good deeds, and charitable acts to remember not only those who died, but also the heroes of September 11, 2001,” said Mayor Byard. “This observance also allows us to pay tribute to the brave men and women who protect our City every day,” continued the Mayor.

Flags will return to full-staff on Saturday.
