The City of Prattville is pleased to announce that Governor Bentley has approved our grant application for the EUDL Program. The grant was awarded in the amount of $17,000. This grant provides funding from the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention – Allocation to States program and will be administered by ADECA.

The awarded funds will be used by the Prattville Police Department to reduce the number of alcohol-related violations by juveniles, as well as 18-20 year olds in the City of Prattville. PPD will partner with the Alabama Beverage Control Agency to conduct 10 or more Minor Operations Details to ensure that we have responsible vendors in the City of Prattville. PPD will also conduct 10 or more parking lot details during peak times and days. The five Portable Breath Tests that will be purchased will show any alcohol consumption and will allow for officers to make arrests for alcohol offenses. Informational brochures will be handed out during details and at school events to warn against the dangers of alcohol. Either counseling or alcohol classes through the court system will be required as a result of any arrest for alcohol violation.

"We are very serious about community-oriented policing or projects that increase public safety and public awareness," stated Chief Tim Huggins. "In most instances, education is the first step towards prevention. I'm very proud of my staff that worked on the grant application and looking forward to developing this initiative for the health and welfare of our youth and young adults."

"I've tasked all Department Heads with finding creative ways to fund necessary items or projects through grants, programs or other initiatives," said Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. "I continue to be pleased with City employees and citizens with their efforts in securing grant dollars from state, federal and private sources, which takes some of the burden off of the City of Prattville. I applaud PPD's efforts and am pleased that these funds will help in the area of public safety."

If you have any questions about EUDL or any other PPD program, please contact Chief Tim Huggins at or (334) 361-3671.
