The City of Prattville has announced that it will hold its Annual Christmas Tree Lighting event at a new location.

"We are moving the Tree Lighting celebration to the beautiful grassy field near the Musgrove Fountain and Heritage Park on Court Street this year," said Barbara Simpson, Coordinator of Cultural Arts and Special Events. "With the spillway in the background, we thought this would be a perfect spot to showcase the amazing tree that was chosen this year and it is closer to the newly refurbished Musgrove Fountain and Santa's Winter Wonderland for the children."

The Tree Lighting will be held on Tuesday, November 25, with festivities beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Prattville Pops and local dance groups will perform and Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr. will flip the switch to light the Tree at 7:00 p.m. Then families will be able to move to the Fountain where children can visit with Santa and tell him what they want most for Christmas. The Prattville Community Chorus will perform Christmas carols, inviting the crowd to sing along.

This event is just a week before the Annual Christmas Parade which will be held on Monday, December 1, at 7:00 p.m. This annual parade will feature floats, antique cars, horses, marching bands and lots of candy and trinkets for the crowd. There is still time to enter the parade, so get your application and send it in today.
