It's almost time for the City of Prattville's 11th annual 4th of July Celebration and patrons can expect that the holiday will definitely go off with a bang!

This year's 4th of July Parade theme is "Salute to Honored Veterans, Heroes in our Hearts". The parade beings at 9:00 a.m. at the Autauga County Courthouse and will end at Stanley-Jensen Stadium. Float participants are encouraged to decorate their entries with patriotic colors. Children on bikes, tricycles and scooters are also invited to participate in this family-fun parade. Grand marshals for this year's parade are all veterans who served in the Korean War from 1950-1953.

The annual Lion's Club Bar-B-Q and Camp Stew Sale will take place at Pratt Park at 10:00 a.m. There will be music, a patriotic program, bake sale and arts and crafts. This year a children's fun area will be featured with inflatable waterslides, and the Pratt Pool will be open for public swimming from 1pm-5pm.

The annual "Cardboard Boat Races", sponsored by the Dept. of Leisure Services, begin at 10am, with teams creating their competition boats out of cardboard and duct tape. Prizes include: Longest floating boat, the Titanic award for most dramatic sink, most creative and more. For information, call the Dept. of Leisure Services at 361-3640.

The annual fireworks presentation will be held at Stanley Jensen stadium.
