Senior Adult Programs

The Parks & Recreation Department provides a wide range of activities which appeal to all ages. For information concerning programs, fees charged and registration, check the calendar, navigate these pages or call 595-0840. You may also download the Registration Form.

Pre-registration is required. Unless otherwise noted, registration will be taken Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Department of Leisure Services Office, or you may call the office and request a registration form to be mailed. The City of Prattville Parks & Recreation Department provides equal opportunities for participation in programs without regard to race, sex or national origin.

BEGINNER LINE DANCE CLASSES

To be held every other Tuesday at 1:00pm.
Dates for February are 14 & 28. March 14 & 28. April 11 & 25.

GAMES DAY (& BRUNCH)

Dominoes, Mexican Dominoes, Rook, Pinochle and Canasta are some of the games we play. Join the fun! Refreshments available. FREE!

SENIOR ADULT DISTRICT MASTERS GAMES 55 & UP
Regular dominoes, rook, checkers, shuffleboard, horseshoes, bowling, golf and much more. (Rules available at the Gillespie Senior Center). Show off your skills, win medals and bragging rights. Win and move to the state games level in Trussville. To register or for additional information call Kris 595-0842 or Betty 595-0803. June 14-16 (district games) at the Gillespie Senior Center. Bowling - August (date and location TBA). Golf & Pitch and Putt – August – (date and location TBA).

SENIOR ADULT MEALS

Lunch is offered Monday - Friday for seniors age 60 and up. Please call in advance to sign up for lunch.
The cost of the meal is $1.50 donation. Call 595-0841 for more information.

SENIOR ADULT TRIPS

  • Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. February 16.
    9:30am; $15, includes admission, lunch, and transportation.

  • Andalusia Senior Appreciation Day. March 30th.
    8am; $10, includes admission, lunch, and transportation.
  • Southeastern Raptor Center, Auburn. April 13th.
    9am; $20, includes admission, lunch, and transportation.

  • SAVE THE DATE:  The Ark Encounter & Creation Museum, Williamstown, Kentucky.
    Ark Encounter features a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible. Spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, this modern engineering marvel amazes visitors young and old. Cost $525.00 per person, double occupancy. Includes transportation, hotel, admissions and 8 meals.
    Date: September 11-15, 2017.

SILVER SNEAKERS

Great for arthritis, helps with strengthening, toning, balance, and maintain range of motion.
Wednesday & Friday, 1:00 p.m.

Bowling: Tuesdays, 1 p.m. at Bama Lanes
Bridge Club: Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m.
Exercise: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:15 - 10 a.m.
Fountain City Quilt Group: Monday & Friday, 1:00 p.m.
Line dancing: Tuesday & Thursday, 8:30 - 10 a.m.
Nov-Jan:  Beginner Line Dancing, every other Tuesday at 1pm. (Dec 6, 20; Jan 3, 17, 31)
Pinochle: Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.
