Sanitation Route Changes
March 30, 2015
We have done extensive analysis on the Sanitation Division of Public Works over the past two years in an effort to make them more efficient and more effective. It was quickly apparent that due to the growth patterns in our great City, the routes have become significantly unbalanced. By optimizing the routes, the number of collection points will be spread equally amongst our household garbage and residential yard trash trucks.
The City will have three (3) household garbage zones:
- Routes west of Hwy 31 will be collected on Monday/Thursday.
- Routes east of Hwy 31 will be collected on Tuesday/Friday.
- Routes west of Hwy 82 will be collected on Wednesday. Business routes will continue to be collected on Wednesdays.
These adjustments will also apply to our residential yard trash trucks. Residential yard trash collection will be divided into five (5) zones. Each collection day, all residential yard trash trucks will be in a particular zone for maximum coverage and efficiency.
Here is the new collection services spreadsheet listed by street name for your convenience: 2015 Routes & Schedules

If you are affected, you should receive a postcard from us. There will be yard signs placed around town to alert residents to the change.
The postcard will look like this:
The changes will take effect tentatively on May 4th. The routes will continue to be evaluated, as will service, as Sanitation becomes more efficient and more effective. We recognize that we must continue to evolve in order to provide the very best service to our residents.
If you have thoughts or suggestions, Mayor Gillespie would like you to contact him on cell phone to share them, (334) 391-3948.
