District 4 - Jerry Starnes
Jerry Starnes was elected to the Prattville City Council in 2012. He grew up in Prattville and has one son, Jett, who attends Prattville High School.
Jerry graduated from Prattville High School in 1986 and from Troy State University in 1991 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. He later earned his Master’s degree in Justice Public Safety from Auburn University in Montgomery.
Starnes began work for the State of Alabama in 1993. He served as a Correctional Officer for three years with the Department of Corrections before going to work with Department of Public Safety as an Executive Security Officer at the Governor’s Mansion. In 1998, he began work with Alabama Pardons and Parole Board and is currently assigned to Autauga County as Probation and Parole Officer, Senior.
He currently serves as a Major in the Alabama Army National Guard where he has served for 21 years. He served a tour in Iraq in 2004 to 2005 as a Military Police Officer and was awarded the Purple Heart in November 2005.
Starnes attends First United Methodist Church where he serves as an usher. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club in Prattville and is the President of the Community Corrections Board (Elmore and Autauga County). Jerry is a member of the Prattville Chamber of Commerce and graduated from the Autauga County Leadership.
